It will come as no surprise to find that yet another of WTM’s amazing board members started their hospitality career in the restaurant industry! Alexandria Eddlemon worked in restaurants as she completed her education, getting her start as a hostess. She went into wholesale distribution when she graduated and her career path led her to the job she’s held for the past seven years. Please meet the On-Premise Market Manager at Athens Distributing Company of TN, Alexandria Eddlemon! 

What do you find most rewarding about your job?

The relationships.

What do you find most rewarding about being a leader in the Memphis hospitality industry? 

It is exciting to see where the industry has been and where it will go. I enjoy meeting many Memphians with so much passion towards what they hope to offer. Getting to offer guidance and assistance is the most rewarding part of my position. 

Why does the Welcome to Memphis mission resonate with you?

For independent operation, sometimes it is trial by fire. WTM offers support, training, and recognition for our industry. My hope is that, with this support and training, the community can focus on growth and education. I want to see Memphis have a very successful hospitality and entertainment industry. 

What do you think the future holds for Welcome to Memphis?

WTM has some exciting things in the works. I think the future holds greater participation, greater awareness, and a greater sense of community with deepened relationships. 

When you have visitors to Memphis, what are three places you always take them?

Belz Museum, the Memphis Zoo or Tom Lee Park for a walk, and Tsunami or Ecco for dinner.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to the hospitality industry?

Show up five minutes early and always have a good attitude.
