New Training Manager for Welcome to Memphis

We are so excited that longtime hospitality professional Jillian Melton has joined Welcome to Memphis as our new Training Manager. In her new role, Jillian will support the local hospitality workforce by offering training and development opportunities to workers across the hospitality industry. 

“Jillian's knowledge of customer service and creating memorable experiences is matched only by her enthusiasm and love for the city,” said Marcus Cox, Executive Director of Welcome to Memphis. “I am beyond grateful to have Jillian a part of our Welcome to Memphis team, as we endeavor to support our hospitality workforce. Jillian's leadership and training will enable our industry workforce to create Authentic Memphis Hospitality experiences for every guest that visits Memphis and Shelby County."

Jillian will conduct in-person training classes for various hospitality needs and positions, in addition to working with management to ensure that staff members are armed with a deep knowledge of Memphis to share with guests. She also plans to create an online academy to help workers who can't always attend classes in-person. 

Jillian is a Memphis native, a graduate of the University of Memphis, and a mother of five. She worked in the hospitality industry for almost twenty years before starting her own hospitality consulting firm focused on helping new restaurants, bars, and hotels successfully train new hires.  

Jillian’s two oldest daughters now work in the hospitality industry in Memphis. “Having children who now work in the industry has helped me further realize how important it is to have the right guidance and support,” Jillian said. “I'm extremely excited and grateful to be working for Welcome To Memphis with the industry I care for so deeply.”
