Why did you get into the hospitality industry?
To help people. I am a people person – and I wanted to learn more about Downtown!
How did your career path take you to the Blue Suede Brigade?
Actually, the Downtown Memphis Commission does field trips and they were at an outing at Autozone Park where I used to work. When I saw them, I talked with the director and asked about the job. She said to come in for an interview and the rest is history.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
You know what, I just always went with the flow, but I wanted to be in law enforcement in some capacity. Here I am in the best part of it so it all worked out.
How long have you been working in the hospitality industry?
Five years in July.
What is your favorite part about working in the industry?
Helping tourists, making sure they are safe, learning about Downtown Memphis, and making sure everyone is safe and happy.
What are your top three favorite places to visit in Memphis?
The National Civil Rights Museum, FedEx Forum events, and Beale Street in general.
What is something you learned in this position that has changed your life for the better?
Patience. That’s number one. The Blue Suede Brigade teaches employees life long skills that help me out in my personal life, too. But you have to have patience doing this job. I just love what I do!
