Brightening Someone’s Day: Jasmine Threatt

Jasmine Threatt

Guest Services - The Memphian Hotel

Jasmine Threatt is one of the smiling faces guests at The Memphian see when they walk in the door! This self-described “people person” says that hospitality is her thing, and it shows in her interaction with her guests. Recently, she offered patrons an outstanding tour of the hotel, including The Tiger & Peacock. The couple was so pleased, they tipped her with a thank-you card containing $100. Wow!

Meet the friendly and outgoing Jasmine Threatt!

How long have you been working at The Memphian?

One year in August 2023.

What is your advice to somebody who's new in the industry?

Be yourself and always be a people pleaser. Guests want a great experience. And you want to shine a good light on Memphis because unfortunately, Memphis sometimes has a bad name. When guests arrive at The Memphian, we want to display a totally different view of the city. I like to give them that Memphian experience. Southern hospitality. Sweet, smiling, welcoming, loving. My motto is, it's not a hotel. It's your house. We don't welcome guests in. We welcome family in.

Since you're so passionate about Memphis, we have to ask: what are your favorite places to eat and drink?

Give me all your local food! I am a foodie. Let's start in the Overton Square area. My favorite restaurant here is Saltwater Crab. You have your seafood bowls, your sushi, sushi burritos, lamb chops, pastas, mashed potatoes, fried jalapeno peppers, and fried green tomatoes. For barbeque, as a Memphian, my first choice is of course my dad’s backyard! However, my second choice is Central Barbecue. Their nachos are great, their ribs fall off the bone. Good. Oh, my gosh, so good. My favorite bar right now is the Supper Club. It is so cool and cute with a nice little eclectic vibe. The cocktails are amazing!

Great advice from someone who clearly loves the 901!

Welcome to Memphis

The Welcome to Memphis mission is to support, train, and recognize the Memphis Hospitality workforce.
