Celebrate the Best in Memphis Hospitality at the Welcome to Memphis - Pick Awards Party
MEMPHIS, TN (Oct. 1, 2024) – All Memphians in the hospitality and tourism industry are invited to a free party hosted by Welcome to Memphis, a subsidiary of Memphis Tourism. On Monday, October 21, 2024, the annual Pick Awards Party will celebrate the hard work of hospitality and tourism professionals in the community: servers, bartenders, hotel associates, docents, ticket agents, valets, and more. The event will be held at Beale Street Landing, 251 Riverside Drive, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
This year’s special guest emcee is Miss Tennessee 2024 Carly Vogel. Entertainment will include Selfie Memphis Photobooth and live music from The Lucky 7 Brass Band. Guests will enjoy refreshments from local caterer Hungry AF and a special dessert by Zio Matto Gelato. Complimentary beer, wine, and soft drinks will be provided by Candy Bar, along with a signature #SpiritofMemphis cocktail and mocktail. Hampline Brewing and Old Dominick Distillery are beverage sponsors. Free parking is available at the Mobility Center, 60 Beale Street, and Backbeat Tours is providing free shuttles to Beale Street Landing.
During the party, Welcome to Memphis will recognize a Pick Award winner and runner-up in each of four different categories: restaurants, attractions, hotels, and hosts. Two additional annual awards are given for outstanding service: named after the first Pick Awards winner, the Michelle Land Award acknowledges the incredible lengths hospitality professionals will go for those visiting Memphis hotels, restaurants, and attractions; named in honor of WTM’s founding Executive Director, the Mary Schmitz Leadership Award recognizes exemplary leadership. 2024 Quarterly Pick honorees will also be recognized. The four annual Pick Award runners-up in each category will receive a $250 prize and a custom-made award created by the Metal Museum; the four annual winners in each category will receive a $500 prize and a custom-made trophy created by the Metal Museum; and the two special award winners will receive a trophy and a special prize.
The Pick Awards recognize and celebrate the hospitality professionals who deliver authentic Memphis hospitality, are knowledgeable about their city, and show pride in the 901.
Nominations of outstanding tourism or hospitality professionals are open online. Visitors and Memphians, as well as employers and fellow employees, are encouraged to submit nominations and stories of excellent service. Winners are chosen by an independent committee of industry leaders.
