Named after the first Pick Awards winner, the Michelle Land Award acknowledges the incredible lengths hospitality professionals will go for those visiting Memphis hotels, restaurants, and attractions. A bartender at Loflin Yard, Stacey Voyles exemplifies the award perfectly! She was praised by her manager for always going out of her way to help guests. One of her guests summed it up by saying: “Stacey was the first person I met when I moved to Memphis. She not only made great drinks, but went above and beyond making me feel less alone in a new city. During my years here, I have continually witnessed Stacey treat all her guests at Loflin with the same care and attention. Stacey is the best first impression our city has to offer. How long have you been in the hospitality industry? 

I've been a bartender for about 15 years. I’ve worked all around Memphis, but mostly downtown. 

Tell us about your position at Loflin Yard. What brought you there? 

I just love the place. There's a family environment. Even after the first shift I worked there, I knew that there were people I wanted to be around. And I’ve been at Loflin Yard six years now. 

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? 

I just wanted to be happy. 

What's your favorite part about working in the hospitality industry? 

It’s a different experience every day. You get to meet all these awesome people from different places and get to know their stories, if you talk to them long enough. And it makes you happy when they're happy, because if they're happy, then we're all having a good time.

What advice would you give someone who's new to the hospitality industry? 

Just remember that everybody is human. Meet them where they are.
